I am addicted to the blue canning jars with the original zinc lids! Its crazy but I have been going to the antique malls and if I see any it's all I can do not to buy them all, LOL! I am going to start using them for storage since I want to keep the original lids. I already have three of them on my counter. I keep sugar in one, flour in the other, and the third I use for a utensil holder. I have also seen people using them as vases, so I think I might put a few of them on my bay window.

It's hot and humid here in Missouri and we haven't even hit August yet! Yikes!! Even though we are not enjoying it that much, my garden is loving it. These are called Super Sweet 100 and I have hundreds of them on one plant. The plant is huge!!

I have been slowly but surely working on getting my family to eat real food. This is the food that our ancestors ate... natural, healthy, real food. Anyway this week I ran out of butter. Since I had cream from the dairy in my fridge, I decided to try my hand at making butter. It worked! I was so excited and my kids think I am nuts! O, well!! Yes, I do get excited easily! Anyway, here is my homemade butter!

My son's Cub Scout troup went on a tour of a local cave. He didn't enjoy it much especially after the tour guide mentioned bats. The labels they gave things like Devil's bathtub and Devil's shower didn't really help either. I was able to push my daughter through in her chair and she really enjoyed it! It was really nice being down there since it has been so hot here.

The assignment for this week was using your 50mm lens. I haven't gotten mine out since Spring. Not exactly sure why other than the fact that I just hadn't thought about it. So this was a good challenge and a challenge it was. It was been raining here all week and I was refusing to go anywhere for two days. I needed some time at home after our busy weekend. Anyway, I decided to try and capture the flowers blooming from my hostas. After reviewing what I took, I settled on this shot even though I am not thrilled with the background! I have come to the conclusion that I need to get my 50mm lens out more!!

Fireworks

This year was my first attempt at shooting fireworks. It was fun but I wasn't in the best location. I also used MCP's Blog it Board for my collage. It is really easy to use!
Family-sized shoot
A family I know asked if there was any way that I could fit in a photo shoot this past weekend. Since this was my first "official" photo shoot, I said yes. It ended up being 4 families with 15 people. My first of this size. Here are a few that I just couldn't resist!!

This weekend seemed to be family weekend for us! We spent Friday at the ranch riding 4 wheelers and having a cookout down by the creek. This is my neice, watching the bigger kids playing in the water.

The camera strap slipcover

A couple of weeks ago Tracy held a contest on her blog. All we had to do is ask her a question, any question, and we would have a chance to win. Well, being the type of person I am, I didn't ask her about her camera or her photography business. No, I wanted the nitty gritty! I wanted to know what she does for herself whenever life gets the best of her! Because I know we all have those types of days, weeks, months and just need some time to breathe.
Anyway, I won!!!!
I wasn't quite sure how I was going to show off my new slipcover since it was already on my camera. So I took a picture of it with my phone!
